About

Civilized Axis is a blog which aims to promote knowledge and understanding of current world events, their causes, effects and consequences on the civilized world.

Dr. Harry Haagen
This blog is maintained by Dr. Harry Haagen, a Swiss national currently residing in the United States.  He holds a masters degree in Political Science from the University of Paris, with a PhD in International Relations from the University of Oxford.

Dr. Haagen is apolitical, agnostic and a true believer in core democratic principles, in market economy and in globalization.  He currently works as a freelance security analyst, and regularly advises top-level diplomats and dignitaries on socio-political issues of current relevance.

This blog's objective is to inform, comments are welcome - but please be careful so as not to incite violence, hate speech or any kind of extremism in your comments.  These actually defeat the purpose of this blog, which is to point out and condemn all kinds of extremist and radical groups.  The target of this blog is not a particular religion, it is a particular group of like-minded individuals (extremists and terrorists) who happen to share a common religion.

Yeah Right... And What About the Antarticans??

Dr. Haagen believes in the notion that all religions lead to the same God, and as such are equal in standing and should deserve equal respect.  As Swami Vivekananda, one of the 19th century most brilliant minds, famously said, "As different streams having different sources all mingle their waters in the sea, so different tendencies, various though they appear, crooked or straight, all lead to God."

Same cannot be said for the followers though.  Followers are humans, and have the judgement and free will to decide which parts of the scriptures are right, and which parts are wrong, and which parts are outright cruel and barbaric.  After all, scriptures are written by men, and altered by men to serve their selfish agendas (e.g. Romans with the Bible, Muslims with the Koran and the Hadiths, Jews with the Talmud, Lindsay Lohan with the Cookie Monster's 66 Commandments and so on and so forth, ).Which is why religions come second to the the notion of doing good towards others!
